A group of business and civic leaders traveled to Washington, D.C. to lobby for local needs, including funding for work on the Washington Street Bridge.
Representatives from various local organizations and agencies traveled to Washington, D.C. recently to request support for local projects.
Individuals representing the City of Vicksburg, Warren County, The Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau, Economic Development Foundation/Port Commission, Main Street, Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation, Sheriff's Department, the Vicksburg Housing Authority and private businesses braved snow and cold weather in early February to request help for the East Mississippi region. The group traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with Mississippi elected officials and make requests for support of local projects. The priority on this trip was to request assistance in funding the repair of the Washington Street Bridge.
