Entergy has been recognized as a leader in economic development by Site Selection magazine.
With an ongoing focus on helping strengthen and support communities, Entergy goes beyond merely meeting the energy needs of its customers.
For the third consecutive year, the corporation is being recognized as one of the top 10 utilities in North America for its work to support economic development in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The recognition comes in the September 2010 issue of Site Selection magazine.
Each year, Site Selection recognizes utilities based on their work in economic development during the previous year. Important criteria in the selection process include job creation, capital investment, and innovative programs and services that meet the needs of industrial customers. The selection is also based on input from leading site selection consultants and interviews with company executives.
“Helping bring new businesses to Mississippi is an important part of the service we offer customers,” said John Turner, director of economic development for Entergy Mississippi, Inc. “By attracting new companies or helping local companies expand, we’re helping create jobs, helping the state’s economy grow and improving the communities where we live and work.”
“Entergy has worked tirelessly with state and local officials, the Mississippi Development Authority and community organizations,” he continued. “It’s a collaborative effort, and we’re grateful that our joint efforts to attract businesses and create jobs are being recognized nationally.”
